Hurricane Ike

Okay well we survived...Chase sent Ryan to Arlington to work from there since they knew that the office downtown was going to be on standy for a while. I had planned to stay at the house with the kids alone but no one would allow that. We had a place under the stairs and everything. So we headed to Lake Conroe to stay at my parents. They have lots of pine trees..... We were all 5 in her closet for the night and actually slept great til about 5. The winds were pretty scary. Long story short - 2 trees down on house. 1 in front and 1 on side in the upstairs guestroom. What a mess. The whole house shook when they fell. Thank goodness for the upstairs. I feel so bad for my parents. They are going to have a long few months ahead. We have been busy pulling carpet out of their house and they have been told by tree cutters that they will need a crane to pull the trees off their house and these are not easy to come by right now. Their whole 2nd story is going to basically have to be rebuilt because there is water in the walls in just about every room. A friend of theirs gave them these machines to take out the moisture in the room thankfully to keep the mold out. Hopefully it wont take 6 to 7 months to get their house back to normal like everyone says.
Kids were not scared one bit. Logan even went outside in and thought it was great. Our house is fine. 1 small tree got bent in the front.
Obviously no electricity and not sure when it will come on. We have heard anywheres from 1 day to 4 weeks. Hopefully not 4 weeks. My parents have a generator and window unit so we had been living at their house. My grandmother got power in Lovelady though so we decided to go to college station for the day (just to get out and get gas since there is none to be found). We had fun shopping and nice lunch out. We will hopefully be going home to electricity soon. I can't say it has been bad though becuase we have been able to laundry, have coffee, cook, watch tv and pretty much whatever else you can do with a generator. Okay just wanted to give all of you who don't live around here an update of what is going on. We are also having a pretty difficult time getting out on our phones but are getting text messages pretty good though. Thanks for all the prayers during the storm and we are just glad to be safe!!!!! Oh and Ryan is home now but we are not there :( We miss our daddy and husband!!! Pictures will come whenever we have power back.
